Magnetic storms do not threaten Volgograd residents on October 18, 2026

On Sunday, the geomagnetic background will be calm, which means that no unpleasant surprises from space are expected on this day. According to forecasts, the maximum Kp index during the day will be about 1.76. This level is N1 (norm) – well below the threshold, which is considered a storm. For comparison, even the weakest G1 storm requires a Kp index of 4.5.

Sometimes at the beginning of the day (about 00.00 Moscow time), the activity can rise slightly - to the same 1.7-1.8 points. But this is not a cause for concern – just slight fluctuations, not a storm. The body of most people will not notice such changes.

With such a calm background, no special phenomena are predicted. We are talking about strong auroras, noticeable radio interference or failures in satellite communication – such effects are usually associated with magnetic storms, and they will not be on this day.
