Moscow tram diameter T2 runs from the metro station "Chertanovskaya" to the IDC Novogireevo, i.e. connects the southern and eastern districts of the capital through the city center. Its length is 33 km. About its popularity told the head of the capital Department of transport Maxim Liksutov:
On behalf of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, we continue to develop the tram network of the capital on the principle of the ground street metro. During the six months of T2 operation, passengers made more than 11.5 million trips, and the peak flow reached 85 thousand trips per day, Liksutov said. According to him, this confirms the demand for tram diameters among Muscovites.
Moscow tram diameters operate on the principle of ground street metro: with short traffic intervals (6 minutes), modern cars "Lvienok-Moscow" and "Vityaz-Moscow" and convenient transfers to other modes of transport. On the T2 route, passengers can use transfers to 31 metro, MCC, IDC and railway stations, as well as to four railway stations - Leningrad, Yaroslavl, Kazan and Paveletsky. The route passes through the city center and allows you to see many sights from the tram window.
