The Governor of the Tula region Dmitry Milyaev spoke about the revival of Krapivna - a historical settlement of federal significance, which preserved the layout of the district city of the XIX century and ancient cultural sites.
Nettle became the subject of the second issue of the special project “On large and small cities”. As noted in the publication, the settlement attracts tourists with its historical atmosphere, architecture and museum collections.
One of the main attractions of Krapivna is the Museum of Zemstvo and Urban History, which is called the only one in Russia. The Museum of Russian and Contemporary Art presents original paintings by Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Aivazovsky, Isaac Levitan and Alexei Savrasov.
The history of Krapivna is associated with different eras and events. The settlement went from the fortress of the Great Sevet Line to the merchant center. His fate is reflected in the coat of arms depicting nettles - a plant that, according to the symbolic image, reappears on the ashes.
In recent years, the historical territory has received a new impetus for development due to improvement. The work was carried out within the framework of the federal project “Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment”, which is now included in the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.
In Krapivna, a park, paths, squares, an observation deck, as well as the central and entrance squares were equipped. The renovation of public spaces became part of the work to preserve the historical appearance of the settlement and create comfortable conditions for residents and tourists.
The changes contributed to the development of tourism infrastructure. Two new museums, hotel rooms, a tourist information center and shopping rows appeared in the settlement.
The names of Leo Tolstoy, Gleb Uspensky, False Dmitry I and Ivan Bolotnikov are associated with Krapivna. About what role these historical figures played in the fate of the settlement and what places to visit travelers, told in the issue with the participation of Alina Konovalova.
Earlier, MK in Tula reported that the governor invited residents and guests of the region to the military-historical festival “From Tula to Berlin” in the Tula Kremlin. This year marks the 85th anniversary of the Tula Defence Operation.
