The Ministry of Education has determined the dates of school holidays for the 2026/2027 academic year

The total duration of school holidays in the 2026/2027 academic year will be 126 days, follows from the recommendations of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

“Winter holidays: from December 31, 2026 to January 10, 2027”, – stated in the official document of the Ministry.

The winter holiday will last 11 days. Autumn holidays are recommended to be held from October 26 to November 3. Spring rest will begin on March 27 and end on April 4. Summer vacation starts on May 27 and ends on August 31. First-graders will receive additional rest days from 15 to 21 February. Last school year, the winter holidays lasted 12 days. The rest of the rest periods have not changed. Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov said about the need for a nine-day minimum for a full rest for schoolchildren. Schools independently approve the calendar curriculum. The ministry’s recommendations are not binding.

Russian schools work on different systems of organization of the educational process. Some institutions use the traditional fourth system. Other schools use a modular system with five-week study periods. Regional authorities and school administrations have the right to adjust the rest periods.
