Minsk celebrates National Unity Day in festive decoration

With the approach of one of the main state holidays of Belarus, the Day of National Unity, the capital again welcomes guests with festive locations, thematic installations, large-scale panels and symbolic decor elements. This was told to the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti” by the head of the design department of the KPUP “Minskreklama” Tatiana Bugorkova.
On the Day of National Unity Minsk is transformed before our eyes. Every district of the capital is preparing to celebrate this important day. On the facade of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, a 40-meter handmade panel was installed on Independence Square. It reaches the size of an 11-storey building and thanks to its laconic design harmoniously fits into the architecture of the square.
- This large-scale flag panel is completely connected by the hands of our employees. Each piece of fabric is fixed on three sides, and the fourth remains free. Therefore, when the wind blows, the panel moves, breathes, is filled with life, said T. Bugorkova.

On October Square at the Palace of the Republic there is also an overall festive installation. This is a 5-meter composition, in the center of which is a map of the country, made in volumes of gilded bas-relief as a symbol of the sovereignty and integrity of the country. Nearby there are laconic designs that complement the composition and create a festive mood.

Traditionally decorated and the Palace of Sports. This year, a 32-meter thematic panel with the slogan “Youth” was placed on the building. Belarus. The future”. Three components are the key to the further prosperity of the state.

Another element of the design of the city were lighting supports on the main avenues. Here the festive rhythm is set by thematic pylons. The thematic screensavers on numerous city multimedia screens complement the overall picture, and at the entrances to the city of Minsk residents and guests of the capital are met with information tablets installed on the entrance steles.

The design of the city for the Day of National Unity in 2026 reflects the connection of the past generation with modern statehood. The main visual accent was the detachable calendar, frozen on the date of September 17, 1939. With it began a new page in the history of united Belarus.

- In the center of the calendar is a fragment of a poster from 1939, which displays the historical image of the residents of Western Belarus meeting the Red Army soldier. In a strong handshake – a living human emotion of the joy of the long-awaited meeting, hope for peace and the feeling of a common home, which then found families separated by the border, – added the expert.

The background ornamental patterns give the concept a warmth, emphasizing that the holiday is rooted in folk origins, in respect for work, culture and ancestors. The balance of all the decor elements, gently framed by the ribbon of the national flag, creates a festive atmosphere on the streets of Minsk and reminds everyone of the importance of a common history.
