Minsk Zoo invites to participate in the thematic contest "Autumn in the legs"

Minsk Zoo invites everyone to participate in the autumn competition of paintings in the quilling technique, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

Quilling is a type of decorative and applied art, in which strips of paper are twisted in spirals, from which integral compositions are created.

On the theme of the competition, the animal should perform centrally in combination with autumn attributes, which are created due to color scheme, entourage or landscape. The format of the work is A3. The drawing should be made on a solid basis (passepartu), be sure to add a mount (suspension): loop, twine, cord, wire. On the front side of the product should not be visible traces of glue (dilutions, drops), pencil or paper deformation. Elements such as rolls, scrolls, drops, arrows should be twisted evenly, with the correct stretching of paper tape.

One work is accepted from one participant. A printed label must be attached to the picture: the size is 7 × 8 cm, the font is Times New Roman, the font size is 14 pt.

The label should indicate:

1. 1.Name of the author, age.
2. 2.Educational institution.
3. 3.F.I.O. Director (completely).
4. 4.Title of work.
5. 5.Contact phone.

Applications are accepted until September 21 by e-mail prosvet@minskzoo.by. Finished works must be brought from September 22 to September 25 from 9:00 to 16:30 at the service entrance of the zoo (from Uborevich Street). The employees of the institution will evaluate the products and arrange the exhibition on October 2.

The jury will assess the complexity of the technique. It is important for participants to use different elements, combine 2D and 3D quilling, as well as loop or contour methods. The advantage will be a unique author’s style.

Students of educational institutions and centers of extracurricular work can take part.

There are three age groups:

1. 1.1st category: 7-10 years;
2. 2.2nd category: 11-14 years;
3. 3.category 3: 15-17 years.

If the participant sends an application and work later than the specified deadline, and also incorrectly draws up the craft and does not sign it, the organizers will not accept the product.

The first, second and third place winners will be awarded with diplomas, souvenirs and gifts from the zoo and its partners. The award will be held at the Minsk Zoo on October 4 at 11:00. Each participant of the competition will be able to go to the zoo for free on this day.

Prize and jury-recorded works are not returned to participants. The remaining paintings can be picked up in the educational department until October 16 from 8:00 to 16:00, on weekdays.
