Minsk – 959 years: where will be the main celebrations

Minsk will celebrate its 959th anniversary on September 12. The program includes festivals, sports and cultural events, as well as fireworks. On September 8, Deputy Head of the Culture Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee Svetlana Silich told reporters, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

A number of events will take place in the capital before the main festive day. On September 9, the Minsk City Hall will host an award ceremony for Minsk residents who take an active part in the protection of public order and the prevention of offenses. And on September 11, the results of the city competition of professional skills “Minsk Master” will be summed up.

The competition allows you to identify active, talented and creative employees of enterprises and organizations of the city. This year, more than 1.8 thousand employees took part in the qualifying stages, 48 winners were identified, of which 15 are young people, Silich said.

The 5th Minsk International Economic Cooperation Forum will also be held on September 11.

The main festive events will unfold on September 12. At 10:00, the solemn ceremony of laying flowers to the obelisk “Minsk – Hero City” will begin. After the event will continue on several sites of the capital.

The museum and park complex "Victory" will host the 10th international competition "The strongest firefighter-rescuer". More than 100 athletes will participate. And on the green zone in the area of Pr. Winners and Masherov will be held the festival of historical reconstruction “Minsk Old”.

- It will be a theatrical and spectacular action with the participation of historical reconstruction clubs. About 500 applications from reenactors from Belarus, Russia and China were submitted for participation in the festival, the speaker noted.

At 11:30, the cultural and entertainment program “Minsk of My Soul” will begin near the Sports Palace. It will be attended by honored and folk artists, famous creative teams of the capital and youth performers. Headliner will be Russian singer Akmal.

On the same site from 10:00 to 23:00 there will be a festive fair.

At 17:00 on p.m. Freedom will be held the ceremony of awarding the awards “Minskan of the year”. Musical support will be provided by the Presidential Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus.

- The event will be attended not only by professional artists, but also by representatives of enterprises and organizations that creatively approached the preparation of numbers. We want the ceremony to be interesting and meaningful, Silich said.

For children and youth in the Central children's Park named after M. Gorky organized a festival of professions. The site will operate from 11:00 to 17:00. The program includes a concert, exhibitions, master classes and presentations of secondary and higher education institutions.

The City Day celebration will end with fireworks. Its launch is scheduled for 23:00 in the area of the Starostinskaya Sloboda square.
