Young people in St. Petersburg choose a cafe instead of savings

Young people in St. Petersburg often make emotional purchases instead of long-term savings. This writes the publication “FederalPress”, which talked with the managing partner of the analytical agency “VMT Consult” Ekaterina Kosareva.

Young people are less and less likely to think about the long-term because of the difficulties with accumulation. The money goes to cafes, books and nice little things for the house.

It is noted that in the first six months of 2026, expenses increased by 5.4% compared to the same period of 2025. Russians are more actively buying clothes, equipment, household goods and cottages, premium products and building materials.

In order not to lose all money in this way, the expert recommends changing the consumption model. You need to have a financial cushion and wisely spend money on goods that are really needed.
