Fraudsters call Russian pensioners, posing as employees of the Social Fund, and under the pretext of urgent recalculation of seniority are trying to access their personal data. That's what TASS says.
The scheme of deception is based on psychological pressure. Scammers claim that a citizen needs to come to the office or dictate a code from an SMS message to make a surcharge. If a potential victim begins to ask clarifying questions, the scammers hang up, but after a while they call back to try again.
The main goal of criminals is to find out a secret code that opens access to bank accounts and personal accounts on the portal of public services. Once the code is in the hands of the attackers, they steal the victim’s money.
