Fraudsters lure pensioners with payments for Grandparents Day
In Russia, a new scheme of deception of pensioners

In Russia, there is a new scheme of deception of pensioners. On the eve of Grandparents Day, which is celebrated on October 28, scammers promise elderly people state payments for having grandchildren.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Commission of the Public chamber of the Russian Federation Evgeny Masharov, scammers are represented by employees of “State services”, MFC and social protection bodies. They send messages and call pensioners, offering a one-time allowance.
To receive money, victims are asked to follow the link and provide personal data and bank details. This is the information the attackers are trying to get.
Masharov stressed that there are no federal payments for Grandparents Day. He called for confirmation codes and bank details not to be shared with strangers, and for any benefit offers to be checked through official channels of government departments.
