The bridge that was waiting for: Andrey Bocharov launched the second stage of construction across the Volga

In the Volgograd region, the second stage of the Third launch complex of the bridge crossing the Volga began. The implementation of this project, significant for the residents of the region and the whole country, Governor Andrey Bocharov keeps under personal control.

The head of the region called this event truly historic. He expressed confidence that the tasks will be fulfilled within the established deadlines, and the Volgograd region, as a reference region, will fully ensure the transportation of goods and passenger transportation along the North-South corridor. The governor also thanked the Russian president for his support.

The construction of a new section with a length of about 10 kilometers will extend the route from the interchange near Krasnoslobodsk to the first stage of the Third Launch Complex. The movement from the village of the Third Decisive to the turn to the farm of Lebyazhya Polyana was opened in December 2024. In the future, the facility will be integrated into the North-South international transport corridor, which is important for the economic stability of the region and the whole of Russia.

Within the framework of the project, a four-lane highway, six bridge structures and 10 water passage pipes will be built. 14.3 billion rubles will be gradually allocated for implementation – funds were attracted thanks to the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.

The road transport facility will allow to unite the already built bridges across the Volga and Akhtuba, to bring the transit flow outside the settlements of the Srednekhtuba district and reduce the burden on the environment. In addition, there will be reliable transport links between the roads of the Volga region, the Central, North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts, as well as the Republic of Kazakhstan. The entire bridge crossing will be a complex of engineering structures with a total length of 38 km.

Volgograd region is a major transport hub of federal importance. Modernization of the region’s road transport network is a priority task to ensure socio-economic growth and increase the capacity of the country’s roads. Previously, the basic works relied on the tools of the national project “Safe quality roads”, the period of which ended at the end of 2024, and since the beginning of 2025, the development of roads is coordinated by the new national project “Infrastructure for Life”. Along with it, the region uses a comprehensive rural development program and other support measures. Governor Andrey Bocharov keeps the implementation of all key projects under personal control, regularly visiting construction sites.
