MTS provided LTE coverage in the village of Rayakoski, Murmansk region, located far beyond the Arctic Circle. Mobile Internet has earned for more than 200 residents, as well as employees of the Cascade of Pazsky HPPs.
As reported in the press service of the company, to expand the network in the Pechenga district installed new telecommunications equipment that provides both voice and access to data transmission at high speeds
In Rayakoski there is a control center for the Pazsky HPP Cascade. This hydropower system combines five automated power plants on the Paz River. The village is remote from large settlements, which complicates the development of telecommunications infrastructure.
The new equipment is also designed to serve tourists and researchers of the Pasvik State Nature Reserve, who come to the area to study northern nature.
Director of MTS in the Murmansk region Ekaterina Ivonina noted that the development of communication in remote settlements remains one of the important tasks of the company.
“We strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of geography, has equal digital opportunities,” Ivonina said.
According to her, the emergence of LTE in Rayakoski expands the opportunities for local residents to communicate and study.
