Man completely blind after taking Ozempic

A resident of Maryland Todd Engel said that he completely lost his eyesight after starting the drug “Ozempic”. The man is suing Danish company Novo Nordisk, which makes the medicine, Fox News reported.

Engel was prescribed a diabetes drug in 2023. Four months later, doctors found him NAION - a disease in which due to a violation of the blood supply, the optic nerve is damaged and vision can disappear suddenly and irretrievably.

“I came out of the shower and said to my wife, ‘I can’t see with my right eye, it’s completely black.’” He later went blind in the second eye. According to doctors, it is impossible to restore vision.

For about 40 years Engel worked as a truck driver and heavy machinery operator. Now he cannot read and work, moves with a white cane and depends on the help of loved ones.

In the lawsuit against Novo Nordisk, Engel claims that the manufacturer did not warn in the instructions about the possible risk of vision loss. At the same time, the relationship between taking the drug and the disease has not yet been proven.
