N. Thinker: We got the most objective picture of the mood in society

The Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus commissioned by the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies (BISI) conducted a large-scale republican sociological study devoted to topical issues of socio-economic development of the country. The first results of the survey, in which more than 2 thousand people from all regions took part, the director of the institute Nikolai Myslivets commented to the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency.

- The absolute majority of the survey participants declare that today they live in a peaceful, beautiful and very comfortable country, which is dynamically developing at all levels, Myslevets said. The infrastructure, the economy are changing, we are changing ourselves. The quality and quality of our life have increased significantly over the years of sovereignty. This is evidenced by the dynamics of respondents’ opinions. This is an indicator of the changes in the minds of people here and now.

The director of the institute stressed that the customer of the study initially set a strict condition: to carry out the work so that the participants did not focus on obtaining purely positive results.

- We were tasked with identifying the most objective situation in society, Myslivets stressed. The tools and techniques we used helped us achieve this. At the final press conference on September 10, experts drew attention to both the trends that are clearly positive in nature and the issues that are in the focus of public authorities and management. And it wasn't all that smooth. We are talking about very sensitive topics: health care, attitude to migration, the state of roads – especially in the regions, work in the housing sector.

The results obtained are encouraging. The quality of roads is positively estimated by 70.4% of respondents. 61.2 percent were satisfied with the work of housing services, 62.7 percent with the arrangement of yards, playgrounds and streets. 64.9% of respondents were satisfied with the work of health care institutions.

N. Myslivets stated that the answers of citizens will not remain without attention of interested structures.

- The state is doing a huge amount of work, providing an opportunity for our citizens to live comfortably, the speaker said. At the same time, the results of our research allow us to get feedback from a wide range of the public. The purpose of such research is to assist in the planning of work in various areas of state activity.

Summing up, the director of the Institute of Sociology noted:

- Together, we have worked and will continue to work to ensure that sovereign Belarus flourishes and develops, and the population of the country has every opportunity to meet their needs, working for themselves and for the benefit of the country, preserving continuity, honoring traditions and thinking about the future.
