In Grodno region improved mobile Internet: in the regional center earned 5G

A large-scale technological transformation in the field of mobile communication is unfolding in Belarus, which qualitatively changes the standards of communication and access to information. In early October, mobile users in Grodno have access to fifth-generation mobile data services, writes sb.by.

Yulia Gavrilovich, Deputy General Director for Commercial Affairs of beCloud, noted that the first 5G users in Grodno, for example, in the location of the Grodno Medical University, note the speed order of 1 Gbit / s, and the peak speeds are recorded at 1.3 Gbit / s:

- We started the phased expansion of the network from the places of the greatest concentration of subscribers. Already now you can feel the new speeds at a busy urban location near Grodno State Agrarian University and Grodno State Electrotechnical College, near Proletarskaya Street, near the shopping center, and on Lenin Komsomol Boulevard, near the main building of Grodno State Medical University.

For nine months of 2026, beCloud has significantly increased the capacity of the Unified 4G/5G network and the speed of mobile Internet in Grodno region. In Grodno, average speeds increased by 35% due to the launch of new base stations and equipment upgrades. According to BelSIE, the average data transfer rate is about 88 Mbps in Grodno and 41 Mbps in Grodno region.

“The implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus on the creation of a Unified 4G and 5G network is the main task of our company,” Yulia Gavrilovich emphasized. In 2026, we invested significant resources in the development of the Unified Network to ensure that the state and business work continuously, and users always remain connected. Our priority is to create a comfortable digital environment for every resident of the region, regardless of whether he lives in the regional center or in a small village.

The number of base stations in the region increased by 117, and their total number is approaching a thousand. Improvements were felt by residents of 106 settlements, including remote towns and villages. Launched and modernized stations in Grodno, Lida, Oshmyany, Ostrovets, Skidel, Smorgon and other settlements.

The total volume of mobile Internet traffic in the region grew by 16 percent from January to September, users downloaded more than 113 thousand terabytes of data. The volume of voice traffic using VoLTE technology increased by almost 13 percent. The growth is driven by the transition to heavy video content, the penetration of new generation smartphones and the expansion of 4G/5G coverage.

Coverage has improved along the M-6 (Minsk – Grodno) and M-11 (Benyakoni – Lida – Slonim) highways – base stations have been introduced near the villages of Gushchytsia and Boyary. In the country, beCloud has included in the network 25 antenna and mast structures with a height of 40 to 72 meters, before the end of the year will build another 40. In the Grodno region, beCloud has already included in the AMC network in the village of Podlipki, Grodno district. The operator plans to have its own AMCs in Iviev, Mostov, Oshmyansk, Slonim, Korelich districts. In the agro-town of Torkachi, Dyatlovsk district, the AMC will be included in the network, including on the basis of the request of local users.

BeCloud technicians regularly work out calls from the Ministry of Communications about the work of 4G and 5G mobile Internet. Each application is considered and, upon confirmation of the problem, put in the schedule of construction works.

Thus, requests were worked out to improve the quality of communication in Grodno near Kletskov Avenue and in Slonim in the Albertin microdistrict. In Grodno, near Rumlevsky Park, the base station was modernized by adding a range of 2600 MHz. In Slonim, after dismantling the station in 2025, specialists found an alternative location and turned on the base station near the 1st Lesnoye lane.
