Finding with consequences: in Saransk, a man spent another 16 thousand rubles

In Saransk, an accidental find on the road turned into a criminal case for a 28-year-old citizen. A man is suspected of embezzling someone else’s property after he discovered a lost portfolio and decided to keep the money.

A 55-year-old resident of the city called the police. He said that on September 19, he forgot his wallet on the roof of the car and noticed the disappearance after the trip. In the portfolio were more than 16 thousand rubles, passport, driver's license, documents for the car and bank cards.

Criminal investigation officers established the identity of the man who picked up the thing at one of the intersections. According to the police, he spent the money on his own needs, and brought the purse home. The man planned to get rid of the find, but eventually left it at his own.

Now the circumstances of the incident have to be assessed in the criminal case. This story reminds us that the things found on the street are not just a gift of fate: the attempt to appropriate them can lead to serious legal consequences.
