In the ranking of scientific and technological development of Russia, Kalmykia took the 75th line, adding 1.52 points for the year. Strengthening the innovative potential of the region is directly related to the adaptation of science to the needs of agriculture, the key branch of the republic.
The main center of scientific activity is Kalmyk State University named after B. B. Gorodovikov, participating in the Priority 2030 program. The university develops projects aimed at solving practical problems of farmers. Among them is the creation of automated systems of mechanized precision sowing of phytomeliorants to combat desertification of pastures. These systems work in conjunction with digital monitoring. Another direction is the formation of Agrohabs to promote technologies in beef cattle breeding, including genetic improvement of breeds.
At the same time, the regional government conducts centralized coordination of IT projects. In accordance with the strategy of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation, geoinformation systems are being introduced, and public services are being translated into digital format.
Support for development and small technology businesses is provided through regional subsidies and federal platforms. Among them are the national projects “Personnel” and “Youth and Children”, as well as the programs of the Innovation Assistance Fund. In addition, the region is developing green energy: the construction of large wind and solar power plants attracts technological investment and improves the energy efficiency of infrastructure.
