The forum for enthusiastic gardeners “Horki Kitchen Garden Show” was held at the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy for the second time. The organizers gathered experts who know everything about how to make the garden productive and stylish. The BSHA Botanical Garden has become a platform for the exchange of experience, sb.by correspondent reports.

The forum brought together gardening lovers, professionals and experts. Russia was represented by landscape designer Oksana Anikeeva, who shared the secrets of the art of harmony in the garden, as well as Professor of the Russian State Agrarian University named after Timiryazev Elena Malankina. All invited lecturers have agronomic or technical education, extensive practical experience. A total of 11 lectures and six master classes were held, and five nurseries and partner organizations participated in the exhibition. In holding the forum, the agricultural academy actively cooperates with the Institute of Fruit Breeding and the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus.

The organizers of the forum outlined the main idea as follows: science and aesthetics. According to Maya Sandalova, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Plant Biology and Chemistry of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, experts debunked myths imposed by social networks in their lectures and master classes and popularized scientific approaches:
- Gardeners, gardeners, colleagues from botanical gardens, specialists of agricultural enterprises came to us. This year there is a large representation of landscape designers who strive to be in trend. We would really like to see an aesthetic atmosphere formed around suburban life and work on the land, attracting people from megacities to relax in nature.

Within the framework of the forum, a competition for the largest tomato was held, in which the teacher of the Academy Ekaterina Rylko won. Her tomato variety “the mystery of nature” hung 1076 grams! And in the competition for the best project of a decorative garden, students of the agro-technological faculty of BSHA Natalia Tarabarova and Anastasia Kupriyanova took the “bronze”.
Guests of the forum were able to take unforgettable photos with an autumn color: a blooming botanical garden, a fashion show, atmospheric hay bales instead of sitting in the open-air auditorium. The lecturers talked about garden design: how to correctly plan the space so that the site looks like a picture, but at the same time remained functional. Practitioners shared the secrets of growing crops: from the choice of varieties to pest control and the intricacies of soil care. For many amateur gardeners, it was interesting to hear about trends in landscape art, how to integrate a garden into a decorative garden.
