Named the peak of tick bites in 2026 in the Tambov region

In the Tambov region summed up the interim results of seasonal monitoring of ticks.

The Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Tambov region and FBUZ "Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Tambov region" summed up the interim results of seasonal monitoring of the incidence of infections transmitted through tick bites.

The territory of the Tambov region is epidemically unfavorable for tick-borne borreliosis, the risk of infection with monocytic anaplasmosis and granulocytic ehrlichiosis remains. Cases of infection with tick-borne viral encephalitis are not recorded.

According to the monitoring, the index of the abundance of ticks in nature in the region amounted to 24.3 copies per 1 flag / km with a norm of no more than 0.5 copies per 1 flag / km. This is 1.4 times higher than the level of 2025 (16.8 per 1 flag/km) and 2.3 times higher than the long-term average (10.3 per 1 flag/km).

From the beginning of the current season to October 19, 2887 people affected by tick bites, including 947 children, applied to medical and preventive institutions of the region. This is 1.6 times lower than in the same period of 2025 (4,899 applications, including from 1,442 children), and 8% lower than the regional average (3,141 cases).

The peak of turnover fell on the 20th week of the year (from 11 to 17 May) - 239 cases, which is 31% higher than the average long-term level and 26% - the level of circulation for the same week last year.

This year, 1,227 ticks were delivered and examined, including 1,107 taken from people and 120 extracted from natural biotopes. A positive result was obtained in 511 cases (41%): for tick-borne borreliosis - in 358 cases (70%), for human granulocytic anaplasmosis - in 147 cases (29%), for human monocytic ehrlichiosis - in 3 cases (1%).
