Not enough bumps? Biologist Glazkov called the reasons for the lack of sound sleep in Khakass bears
This year, Khakassia and other regions of Russia have faced regular cases of bears reaching people

This year, Khakassia and other regions of Russia faced regular cases of bears reaching people. Unfortunately, in neighboring regions, such as the Krasnoyarsk Territory, several such meetings ended tragically for local residents. Now predators are preparing for hibernation.
However, due to the poor harvest of pine cones, which form the basis of the diet of Siberian bears, not all animals can fully immerse themselves in winter sleep. Therefore, residents of Khakassia are at risk of encountering shatters, which are much more aggressive than ordinary bears. About why there are such risks, "MK in Khakassia" said candidate of biological sciences and popularizer of knowledge about the nature of Russia Pavel Glazkov.
First of all, the expert notes that the bear-shatun is often a sick or injured animal. If an ordinary well-fed predator is woken up accidentally - for example, a forest is laid nearby - then the animal will calmly lie down to sleep further, even not necessarily in the den, he can safely continue to winter under the bell.
“However, because the bear has not gained enough fat before hibernation, it can go out to people in winter.” In general, making predictions is an ungrateful thing, but in Siberia, including in Khakassia, this year there was a poor harvest of cedar cones, which form the basis of the feed base of local brown bears. Therefore, not all animals could accumulate sufficient fat for full hibernation. It should be emphasized that although bears are considered predatory animals, about 90% of their diet is plant foods. In Siberia, these are the same cones. And in the north-west of Russia, there is no such problem, since bears eat blueberries, which this year was a lot, said Pavel Glazkov.
The scientist believes that the problem can be solved by developing hunting farms. This will help regulate the number of bears and animals.
“We have recently had a negative attitude towards hunting. But it's wrong. Hunters not only regulate the number of animals, but also make animals afraid to come to those places where they are shot, – said Pavel Glazkov.
Earlier, MK in Khakassia wrote that Abaza lived in a bear siege for 80 days.
