Novgorod residents were told that a fire in the country could turn into a prison

With the arrival of autumn in Novgorod region, the number of household fires is growing. Most often they are associated with the incineration of garbage in the suburban and homestead areas. In an effort to restore order before the winter, many summer residents forget about simple but critical fire safety rules. Neglecting them threatens not only the loss of property, but also a serious threat to the life and health of people, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Novgorod region noted.

To prevent trouble, observe elementary precautions when disposing of plant residues and debris, the rescuers continued.

If a special fire-fighting regime is not introduced on the territory, waste incineration is allowed only in a metal container - for example, in a barrel. At the same time, it is important that it does not have burnouts, cracks and other damage.

Place the barrel strictly taking into account safe distances:

at least 7.5 meters from any building;

at least 15 meters from deciduous plantations;

at least 50 meters from the forest.

Before starting work, be sure to remove all flammable and combustible liquids, as well as dry materials that can flash from an accidental spark. Near the place of incineration must be means of primary fire extinguishing: a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher, noted in the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

After completion, do not leave smoldering remnants unattended. Completely eliminate combustion: pour the contents of the barrel with water or fill with sand, and then cover the container with a metal sheet.

For violation of the rules of incineration of garbage in the suburban area, liability is provided. If the rules are simply violated (distances are not observed, a damaged barrel is used, there are no fire extinguishing means nearby, the fire is left unattended) - a warning or an administrative fine under Part 1 of Article 20.4 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation is threatened. For an individual it is from 5 thousand to 15 thousand rubles.

If the violation led to consequences, the liability is stricter. If due to improper burning there was a fire that damaged someone else’s property or caused mild or moderate harm to human health, the fine will be from 40 thousand to 50 thousand rubles. Criminal liability occurs when the consequences are severe. For example, through negligence caused serious harm to human health or death. Then a person can go to prison for 7 years.
