New Year holidays 2026-2027 again postponed: how now we will rest – the exact schedule

The Russian government has approved the schedule of working and holidays for 2027. The main news was the postponement of the weekend to form a continuous winter vacation. To make the holiday more comfortable, Saturdays on January 2 and 3 were redistributed: one of them was added to the holiday on November 5, and the second officially became a holiday on December 31, 2026.

As a result, with a standard five-day working week, citizens will rest from 1 to 10 January 2027 inclusive. Return to work weekdays will take place on Monday, January 11.

In addition to winter holidays, the calendar gives several convenient "mini-vacations", evenly distributed throughout the year:

• March 6-8 – the weekend for International Women’s Day;

• May 1-3 - rest in honor of the Spring and Labor Festival;

May 8-10 – long weekend for Victory Day;

• June 12-14 – holidays on the Day of Russia;

4-7 November – four-day rest for the Day of National Unity.

The schedule for Defender of the Fatherland Day has also been adjusted: the day off has been postponed to Monday, which will ensure a continuous three-day rest from February 21 to February 23.

A separate pleasant bonus for all: December 31, 2027 at the legislative level is fixed as an official non-working day throughout the country. This will allow you to safely prepare for the New Year, buy gifts and avoid the need to take time off.

In total, in 2027, Russians expect 247 working days and 118 weekends and holidays. Experts recommend saving this schedule in advance in order to plan vacations, book tickets and correctly distribute the family budget.
