New Year holidays 2026-2027 again postponed: how now we will rest – the exact schedule

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation approved the production calendar for 2027 in advance. Early publication of the document will allow citizens and businesses to plan long-term vacations, family trips and work schedules without haste.

The main news was the changes in the winter holidays. To make the holiday more uninterrupted, the government decided to redistribute two weekends falling on Saturday in January. The weekend from January 2 was moved to November 5, and Saturday January 3 was “gifted” December 31, 2026. Thanks to this maneuver, employees will be able to fully rest from January 1 to 10 inclusive and go to work only on Monday, January 11, 2027.

The corrections also touched on the celebration of the Defender of the Fatherland Day. Saturday February 20 has been postponed to Monday, February 22. This will provide Russians with a comfortable three-day weekend from 21 to 23 February.

In addition, the calendar has several more convenient mini-vacations, evenly distributed throughout the year:

6-8 March (International Women's Day);

May 1-3 (Spring and Labor Festival);

• May 8-10 (Victory Day);

12-14 June (Russia Day);

November 4-7 (National Unity Day).

A separate pleasant bonus: December 31, 2027 is officially fixed as a non-working day throughout the country. This will give the majority of Russians the opportunity to devote the last day of the year to the pre-holiday hassles and the New Year without haste.

As a result, taking into account all transfers, the balance of 2027 will be 247 working days against 118 weekends and public holidays.
