New Year holidays 2026-2027 again postponed: how now we will rest – the exact schedule

The Russian government has approved the production calendar for 2027 in advance. This early decision allows citizens and businesses to plan vacations, family trips and work processes for the year ahead.

The main gift for employees with a five-day period is a large-scale reshuffle of the January weekend. To make the New Year holidays as long as possible, Saturday January 3 was postponed to December 31, 2026, and the weekend from January 2 “moved” to November 5, 2027. The result of this maneuver is impressive: you will have to go to work after the holidays only on Monday, January 11.

The changes also affected the Defender of the Fatherland Day. The weekend from Saturday February 20 was moved to Monday, the 22nd. This guarantees all of us a comfortable three-day weekend from 21 to 23 February.

In addition, the calendar has five blocks of long weekends, which are evenly scattered throughout the year:

• March 6-8 – International Women’s Day;

• May 1-3 – Festival of Spring and Labor;

• May 8-10 – Victory Day;

• June 12-14 - Day of Russia;

November 4-7 - National Unity Day.

A separate pleasant bonus: December 31, 2027 is officially recognized as a day off. This means that the pre-New Year fuss, purchase of gifts and preparation for the holiday will take place without interruption from family and work.

In 2027, Russians will have 247 working days and 118 rest days, including all public holidays.
