Novosibirsk citizens warned about fraudsters promising to quickly issue a passport

Residents of Novosibirsk were reminded of the risk of encountering fraudsters when processing documents for travel abroad. Attackers offer to get a biometric passport in just a few days, hoping to earn on gullible citizens.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained that the legal procedure does not provide for accelerated receipt of a biometric passport for an additional fee through private intermediaries.

In exceptional situations, it is allowed to urgently issue an old passport valid for five years. There must be good reasons for this, in particular the need for emergency treatment abroad or the death of a close relative.

In other cases, citizens should adhere to the established procedure for processing documents. The department advises to contact authorized state institutions, and check information about the necessary services on official resources.

Residents were also urged not to transfer money to unfamiliar intermediaries promising to speed up the procedure, and to contact the police if suspicious offers are received.
