Tula EMERCOM warned residents of the region about the danger of autumn water bodies

The Tula Emergencies Ministry warned residents of the region about the danger of autumn water bodies. With the onset of cold weather, even a short stay in the water can end in tragedy: due to low temperature, a person quickly loses strength, and muscles cramp, explained “MK in Tula” in the press service of the GU EMERCOM of Russia in the region.
Employees of the State Inspectorate for Small-Sized Vessels of the Regional Emergencies Department check the water bodies of the region daily. During raids, inspectors talk to fishermen and vacationers, explain how to act in emergency situations, and hand out memos with emergency phone numbers.
A special danger in autumn is a sharp cooling of the body. Unlike in the summer, in cold water, a person loses heat much faster. This can lead to cold shock, hypothermia and seizures. Even good physical fitness and ability to swim do not guarantee salvation. Additional risks are created by fog, precipitation and shortening of daylight hours, which worsen visibility.
“Cold water does not forgive mistakes. If a person is overboard, he has a few minutes before the muscles are reduced from the cold, and wet clothes pull to the bottom. Our task is to remind everyone about vigilance, the employees of GIMS of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia note.
Rescuers urge fishermen and owners of small boats not to neglect precautions. Before going to the water, it is necessary to wear a life jacket, check the serviceability of the boat and not exceed the permissible load. It is also important to monitor the weather forecast, avoid trips in fog and strong winds, do not drink alcohol and warn loved ones about the place of fishing and the time of return.
Separately, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warns against entering the first thin ice: it is unable to withstand the weight of a person and poses a deadly threat.
If someone is in trouble on the water, witnesses should immediately call 101 or 112.
Earlier, “MK in Tula” reported the death of a 51-year-old fisherman at the Suvorov reservoir.
The man became entangled in fishing nets and could not get out of the water. His body was found by divers of the regional search and rescue service and brought to shore.
