Supports of the new Ferris wheel in Volgograd will be covered with snow-white paint

In the Central Park of Culture and Recreation of Volgograd began painting the supports of the cable-stayed Ferris wheel “Star of Stalingrad”. Now industrial climbers apply the finishing coating on the first support column: it is painted white in two layers using rollers. According to Andrei Yerkin, director of CPKiO, this method allows you to evenly distribute the material and avoid spraying, although it takes longer than working with a spray gun.

In total, four supports will have to be painted - this will require about 600 liters of paint materials. Now experts are processing one side of the first column, then move on to the next. On the site there are three brigades (two people in each). High-rise work is carried out only in the absence of strong wind.

Before finishing the painting of the surface of the columns carefully prepared: cleaned of pollution and technological layers, applied a primer composition. The rest of the pillars are still under construction. For safety, winches and anchor systems are fixed on the structures.

Painting materials used are resistant to atmospheric effects. The quality and thickness of the coating will be checked by an independent laboratory, both during and after the work is completed.

In parallel with the painting are other construction work. The circumference of the wheel with a diameter of 113 meters is already fully assembled. Now under the rim are preparing a platform for the installation of 20 hydraulic actuators - they will ensure the rotation of the attraction.

Recall that the Ferris wheel "Star of Stalingrad" will be the country's largest cable-stayed Ferris wheel. Its construction is carried out with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation in the framework of activities for the development of domestic tourism.
