Orel region will be part of the route “Russia of Leo Tolstoy”

Orel region participates in the interregional tourist route "Russia of Leo Tolstoy". This is reported in the press service of the regional government.

On October 12, a meeting of the working group on the development of this route was held in Moscow. The Orel region was represented there by the head of the regional department for territorial development projects Andrei Karpov. He noted that the Oryol region played a special role in the formation of the worldview of Leo Tolstoy, his perception of the cultural heritage of the peoples of our country. This is the reason for the important place of the Orel region in the future route, the work on which is gaining momentum.

During the meeting, it was decided to elect the Minister of Tourism of the Tula region Elena Martynova as the head of the working group. She told about the agreements signed in 2026 with the regions participating in the route “Russia of Leo Tolstoy”. These are Moscow, Moscow, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Orel and Ryazan regions. The meeting participants discussed the prospects for obtaining the status of a national route and issues related to the repair, restoration and museumification of Russian Railways facilities, personnel training, the formation of digital infrastructure and the corporate identity of the project.

Among the planned initiatives is the launch of the tourist train “Literary Express” in 2027 and the creation of a single event calendar on the portal “Travel.rf”. It was also proposed to synchronize plans for the installation and stylization of navigation signs for 7 participating regions. In addition, they discussed measures to promote the national route and tourist product, including to foreign markets.

At the meeting, it was noted that preparations for the 200th anniversary of Leo Tolstoy are systematic work. The anniversary should become an impetus for the creation of long-term projects – for example, new routes, expositions, publications and educational programs.
