Orel children can be deceived by a multi-stage scheme

Residents of the Orel region are warned about a dangerous fraud scheme, the victims of which are increasingly children. Attackers operate in several stages. This is reported by the press service of the regional government.
At first, attackers gain trust in a child through calls, social media, or popular online games. The main goal at the first stage is to make the minor do a simple action: name the code from the SMS, send a geolocation or click on the link to the chat.
Then a psychological attack begins. False employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the FSB enter the conversation. They intimidate the child by threatening him or his parents with a criminal case. In order to “prove innocence” or “save the family,” the scammers demand to immediately find cash or jewelry at home and give it to the courier. In some cases, children are even persuaded to conduct a "remote search" via video link or take part in fictional special operations.
Parents are advised to regularly remind their children about the rules of digital security and explain that law enforcement officers never conduct prompt conversations with minors through instant messengers and do not demand money.
