Complications may appear on the second day: what flu found in the Ulyanovsk region

In the Ulyanovsk region registered the first cases of influenza in the new epidemiological season. While there are few cases, among the identified viruses already present A(H1N1)pdm09, known as swine flu, and influenza type B.

According to the chief infectious disease specialist of the region Valeria Rechnik, the first infections were recorded last week. Despite this, the epidemiological situation in the region remains calm.

The disease usually begins with a sharp increase in temperature, severe weakness, headache and aches in the body. A runny nose and discomfort in the throat often appear on the second or third day.

Of particular danger is the strain A(H1N1), which can cause complications as early as 2-4 days. The most common is pneumonia. In severe cases, damage to the respiratory, cardiovascular and nervous systems is possible.

To prevent infection, doctors recommend vaccination. First of all, it is necessary for children over six months, pregnant women, people over 65 years old, patients with chronic diseases, as well as medical workers and teachers.

The regional office of Rospotrebnadzor noted that the vaccination helps to reduce the risk of severe disease and serious complications.
