In the working village Surskoye Ulyanovsk region intend to restore the historical mansion of the sisters Sokolov, which today is in poor condition. After repairs, the building plans to open a pilgrimage center with a refectory and a small hotel. Prospects for the restoration of the memorial house for the village were discussed during the working visit of Senator Sergei Ryabukhin.
The representative of the Ulyanovsk region in the Federation Council, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Financial Markets Sergey Ryabukhin inspected the old building, which needs major repairs.
After the inspection, the senator met with the head of the administration of the Sursky district Dmitry Kolgin and the dean of the Sursky district, Priest Georgy Dzhmil. The meeting participants discussed the priority measures necessary to preserve the mansion.
At the first stage, the building is supposed to equip a temple in the name of St. Sergius of Radonezh. It will be able to temporarily receive parishioners of the St. Nicholas Church, the overhaul of which is scheduled for 2027.
In the future, they want to adapt the historic house to accommodate pilgrims. Here they intend to equip rooms for living and organize a refectory. Such a center will be able to receive believers who come to Surskoye during the year to visit Nikolskaya Gora.
Father George thanked Sergei Ryabukhin for his participation in the preservation of cultural heritage and stressed the importance of restoring the building for the local parish.
The mansion is associated with the history of the Sokolov sisters - believing women who lived in the XIX century in the village of Promzino, which today is known as Surskoe. In 2015, the building was transferred to the Simbirsk diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The house is considered one of the remarkable examples of historical development of the village, but over the years its condition has deteriorated significantly. Now the building needs serious restoration work.
It is assumed that the implementation of the project will not only preserve the ancient building, but also create additional conditions for the development of pilgrimage in the Sur district. The specific timing of the restoration of the mansion and the cost of work are not yet known.
