In Ulyanovsk, detention center No. 1 celebrated 165 years since its foundation. In honor of the anniversary, the institution organized a solemn formation of personnel, and distinguished employees were awarded for conscientious service.
The festive event was held in SIZO-1 of the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service. The head of the institution Pavel Larkin addressed the team, who congratulated the employees on the memorable date.
The head thanked the personnel for their professionalism, responsible attitude to duties and contribution to law enforcement. He also stressed the importance of preserving the official traditions formed over the long history of the institution.
During the solemn construction, employees who achieved high results in their work were presented with departmental awards and letters of thanks. Employees who distinguished themselves in the performance of their duties and contributed to the development of the penitentiary system of the region were encouraged.
The history of the institution began on October 26, 1861, when a prison company opened in Simbirsk, later transformed into a remand prison.
Initially, the institution was intended for the detention of prisoners involved in construction and economic work in the city. At the time of the opening, there were 200 people who were performing work duties outside the barracks.
Over the past 165 years, the institution has repeatedly changed its organizational structure and purpose. Today SIZO-1 is part of the system of execution of punishments of the Ulyanovsk region and ensures the detention of suspects, accused and other categories of persons in cases provided for by law.
The regional Federal Penitentiary Service noted that the anniversary was an occasion not only to sum up the work of the team, but also to recall the history of the institution associated with the development of Simbirsk and modern Ulyanovsk.
