Rest for the whole family: in Grodno after reconstruction opened a sports and health complex "Azurny"

In Grodno solemnly opened after a large-scale reconstruction of the sports and health complex "Azurny". Participation in the landmark event was taken by Assistant to the President – Inspector for Grodno region Konstantin Burak. The renovated water complex was a great gift for citizens by November 7. It's from sb.by.

Previously, on the site of the modern complex there was a pool with the same name for the rehabilitation of employees of OJSC "Belkard", built in 1972. In 2014, the pool was closed for major repairs and has not yet functioned. Only in 2024, modernization works were resumed here.

After the reconstruction, "Azurny" expanded its functionality and offers even more features: a water-thermal zone with bowls for adult and children's swimming, five slides (3 adults and 2 children's) and a jacuzzi, as well as a SPA zone with a Russian and Finnish bath, an infrared sauna, a hammam (Turkish bath), zones with a salt environment and artificial snow, showers of impressions, massage. On the second floor of the sports and health center there is a cafe for visitors. The complex is equipped with a barrier-free environment. The capacity of the facility is 160-200 people per hour.

- The long-awaited gift today was received by Grodno residents, said Konstantin Burak. Sports and health complex "Azurny" was built more than 50 years ago. In 2013, the object was sold to a private person and over the next 10 years turned into ruins. In 2023, it was decided to return the facility to the ownership of the city and restore its work, so that it again served the people for its original purpose. The result is good! More than 24 million rubles were spent on the facility. The amount, of course, is significant, but the result is disproportionately higher, because this is a direct investment in the health of our citizens. And in the Republic of Belarus, a socially oriented state, taking care of the health of citizens is the most important priority of sustainable development and an integral part of the social policy implemented by the Head of State.

- The new pool is able to accept even children of 3 months of age. According to the safety requirements in other pools, this was not possible. And now it is a comfortable space for family holidays.

The main purpose of the new complex is active water recreation for parents with children.

- In almost two years, we managed to put this facility into operation, said Andrey Khmel, Chairman of the Grodno City Executive Committee. Now it has become a special water space for rest, designed for the whole family. Grodno has parks, squares and entertainment areas in shopping centers, but the city lacked such specialized water space for active family holidays. The complex was transferred to the management of the municipal enterprise Aquacenter, which already successfully manages several city facilities and provides bath services. It is planned that in the afternoon there will be classes in water aerobics and swimming for adults and children. And after lunch and on weekends, Azure will completely switch to the mode of the center of active water leisure.

Andrey Valerievich also explained why the functionality of the object was changed:

- Many people wonder why the object was not left with a classic swimming pool. The fact is that a large sports center is being built at the entrance to Grodno, where an Olympic 50-meter swimming pool will soon appear. In total, 40 swimming pools are already in operation in the city. In almost every neighborhood on the basis of schools there are 25-meter bowls. Grodno residents are fully provided with conditions for classical swimming and can visit these facilities in the evening and weekends at a reasonable cost. And "Azure" is a center for recreation. Very soon there will be a good cafeteria with a delicious and useful menu for the whole family.

The first visitors of the sports and health center "Azurny" were large families, who became the first owners of family certificates for visiting the complex within the framework of the Parental Love Week.

Father Evgeny Yavorovsky, who with the whole family came to swim in the pool, shared his impressions:

- It's a swimming pool! The kids are thrilled, and I'm glad we now have a wonderful place for a family holiday. I can't find my wife, she looks like she's gone to the SPA with our girls. I went to "Azurny" when I was still in school. It is not comparable to what they have built now. Previously, there were only swimming lanes, a sauna and a small pool for children. Now you don't know where to go! New slides made, "frog" for children, sun loungers, bath for every taste. And also comfortable and safe descent into the water, which is especially important for children.

But Anastasia Akimenko came here not only as a mother, but also as a swimming coach, who appreciated the work done:

I came with my daughter Nika to see what pool opened near our house. I made sure that it is cool to swim here, just relax in the water, and you can also go to a separate zone of wellness procedures. The water complex looks small, but there are many places where you can find entertainment and relax. As a coach, I can say that there are many games with children. The depth and space are sufficient to conduct swimming classes.

Grodno region is actively developing sports infrastructure, including building and updating water facilities. For example, in Bolshaya Berestowice in September, a new swimming pool was opened on the basis of S.O. Pritytsky High School. And today, on November 6, the festive opening of the sports facility in Obukhovo took place, and in Svislochi construction works at the secondary school No. 2 named after M. P. Massonov are already on the finish line. Work is underway on the construction of a swimming pool in the town of Korelichi, projects have been prepared for the construction of a swimming pool in Oshmyany and the reconstruction of a sports and health complex in Volkovysk.
