The territorial body of Roszdravnadzor for St. Petersburg and Leningrad region announced a warning to the City Hospital No. 38 named after N. A. Semashko, whose chief physician is Alexander Panfilenko. The reason was the case of a patient who was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and performed a laparoscopic appendectomy, but the antibiotic was allegedly not given before the operation. This became known from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
Before surgery, doctors allegedly did not prevent infectious complications with broad-spectrum antibiotics, although according to quality criteria this should be done an hour before surgery. We are talking about section 11.10 criteria for assessing the quality of specialized medical care for adults with acute appendicitis, approved by the order of the Ministry of Health.
The lack of antibiotic prophylaxis increases the risk of postoperative complications. The Ministry reminded the hospital about the requirements of the law “On the basics of public health” and demanded to take action. According to Kontur.Focus, SPB GBUZ "City Hospital No. 38 named after N.A. Semashko" is the defendant in six cases for a total of 316 thousand rubles.
