Monuments of Donbass can get a new economic role

Historical buildings and territories of Donbass can get a new life and become part of the modern economy. To do this, it is necessary to develop attractive investment projects for business and find ways to involve heritage sites in the urban environment.

These topics were discussed at the forum “Territory of Memory: Forum of Cultural Heritage of Donbass and Novorossiya”. Director of the Donbass Development Corporation Maxim Savenko presented a report on the possibilities of investing in the cultural heritage of the DPR.

The forum participants considered the Russian experience in working with historical territories, options for attracting private funds and prospects for the development of industry and tourism. They also discussed what successful practices can be applied in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

According to Savenko, the preservation of monuments is important to complement the search for new ways of using them. Concrete investment proposals, he noted, will help to interest businesses and return historical sites to the modern life of cities.
