Patriarch Kirill reacts to terror attack in Jordanian church

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent condolences to Patriarch Theophilus of Jerusalem in connection with the terrorist attack in the church of Hamud in the Jordanian city of El-Karak. The message was published on the official website of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Kirill stressed that the attack on people gathered in the temple for prayerful farewell to the deceased deserves the strongest condemnation. The Patriarch expressed confidence in the need to identify the organizers and perpetrators of the crime and to achieve their punishment.

Recall that on the eve of armed men entered the church Hamud and opened fire on parishioners. The attack killed nine people and injured 34 others. The Jordanian Interior Ministry officially qualified the incident as a terrorist attack.
