Saving money for the future is becoming increasingly popular among young residents of the Penza region. By increasing the number of savings accounts opened by clients under 35, the region became the leader of the Volga Federal District.
According to RBC, citing data from Rosselkhozbank, from January to July, the number of new savings accounts opened by young bank customers in the Penza region increased by almost 80% compared to the same period last year - from about 400 to 700.
For comparison, in the Volga Federal District as a whole, the number of opening such accounts among young clients increased by 29%, reaching 10.8 thousand.
According to the bank, noticeable changes in the preferences of Russian youth occurred in the spring. In March, residents of the district under the age of 35 opened about 1.9 thousand savings accounts against 1.6 thousand bank deposits. In April, the difference became even more noticeable: about 2.2 thousand savings accounts against 1.9 thousand deposits.
Thus, during these months, young bank customers were more likely to prefer savings accounts than traditional deposits.
Interest in this method of savings is noted in other regions of the PFD. In the Samara and Nizhny Novgorod regions, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, the share of savings accounts exceeded 44% of all new savings products opened by young people.
Analysts also found out which age groups are most actively using banking instruments for savings.
The most noticeable increase in activity was demonstrated by customers aged 18 to 24 years. For seven months, they opened about 7.6 thousand deposits and savings accounts, exceeding the figure of the same period last year.
At the same time, the largest number of new savings products still account for customers aged 30 to 35 years. In January-July, they opened about 11.6 thousand deposits and savings accounts.
The results of the study show that the interest of young people in savings accounts is growing. This trend is especially noticeable in the Penza region. Young Penza residents are increasingly serious about personal budget planning and are striving to create a financial cushion.
