Penza parents will get more paid sick days

The lower house of Parliament received an initiative from the Cabinet, able to make life easier for families with children. We are talking about a noticeable expansion of the limit of paid days that parents can spend on sick leave, caring for a sick child. The corresponding document has already been published in the electronic database of the State Duma.

According to the proposed amendments, the maximum period of paid absence from work will increase. For children under the age of seven, the bar will be raised from sixty to ninety days. Parents of schoolchildren from 7 to 15 years old will be allowed to take up to 75 days instead of the previous 45. And families raising a child with a disability will increase the limit to 150 days (previously it was 120).

The accompanying materials indicate that the main purpose of innovations is to provide financial assistance to employed mothers and fathers. For all these groups of children, it is proposed to add exactly thirty calendar days per year to the current maximum.

The funding mechanism is also changing. Payments for the care of children under eight years are planned to be fully assigned to the Social Fund of Russia. Now the amount that exceeds the standard amount of benefits is covered by the federal treasury. The initiators emphasize that the new format better reflects the insurance essence of these payments.

In order for everything to work, it will be necessary to amend two specialized laws – on state benefits for citizens with children, as well as on mandatory social insurance in case of temporary disability and maternity.
