Penza drivers reminded about the risks of autumn roads
Autumn is a time when the road brings surprises

Autumn is a time when the road brings surprises. Daylight is reduced, the weather deteriorates, rains are more frequent, and in the mornings a thin ice glaze appears on the asphalt. All of these factors change the nature of the car and increase the risk of accidents, especially where pedestrians appear on the road. Inspection reminds you how to protect yourself in such conditions.
First of all, drivers should reconsider their attitude to speed. It is not only the observance of signs - on wet or frozen coating, the braking distance is doubled. Therefore, the distance to the car in front should be kept more than usual. In darkness or fog, it should be increased even more. The grip of tires with cold asphalt is weaker, so that sharp steering movements, frequent rearrangements and overtaking is better to minimize. Move smoothly and be safe before each maneuver. And watch for the cleanliness of the glass: in case of poor visibility, be sure to turn on the headlights, including fog lamps.
Particular caution is needed where people often appear – at the crossings, in yards, near stops and schools. But pedestrians also need to adapt to the cold. As you approach the road, stop and look around. Make sure drivers see you and let you through, and then cross over. Do not go out on the roadway unnecessarily and avoid driving on the edge of the road, especially in poorly lit areas - it is better to find a safe bypass. Give the driver a chance to notice you: add reflective elements to your clothes. And when transitioning, do not be distracted by the phone, remove the hood or remove the umbrella so that the view is not limited.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds us that the most reliable guarantee of safety is attention and compliance with traffic rules.
