Within the framework of the Stavropol Forum of the World Russian People’s Council, the President of the Foundation for Peace and Friendship between Nations Pierre de Gaulle visited the North Caucasus Federal University together with his wife Rimma Marie Halimi de Gaulle.
During the visit, the grandson of the founder and first President of the Fifth French Republic, General Charles de Gaulle, met with the rector of the university, Professor Tatiana Shebzukhova.
“For our university, this visit is of particular importance, since preserving historical memory means not only taking care of the past, but also educating young people with the value of peace and harmony. Today, when attempts to rethink and distort history become part of the global agenda, it is especially important to strengthen international humanitarian dialogue based on an honest view of the past and responsibility to future generations.
The parties discussed the importance of humanitarian dialogue in modern conditions, preservation of historical memory and promotion of traditional spiritual and moral values.
Pierre de Gaulle also took part in the work of the section of the Stavropol Forum “Spiritual Sovereignty – the Main Value of the Russian World”, which was held at the NCFU site, uniting Russian and foreign public figures, experts, representatives of science and culture.
During our visit to Russia, we are surrounded by such generosity, such sincerity, a real Russian soul. You represent the values that define the future of the world. You are guided by faith, family, love of the Motherland. And in Europe now everything is very complicated and confusing. Therefore, our mission is important: we should be the preachers of these traditional values in all the richness of the polar world, the president of the Foundation for Peace and Friendship between Peoples said in his speech.
During the round table, the participants discussed a wide range of issues related to spiritual sovereignty, historical memory, cultural identity, the influence of modern media on young people, as well as the role of traditional values in the context of global challenges.
