It is not necessary to rename Volgograd to Stalingrad, according to the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation
Deputy Secretary of the OP of Russia Vladislav Grib spoke out against the return of the city-hero name Stalingrad. In an interview with TASS, he noted that the feat of the Volga stronghold is remembered without renaming

The memory of the heroism of the defenders of Stalingrad during the Great Patriotic War can be preserved through patriotic events and the use of the historical name on anniversary dates.
We remember both the feat of Leningrad and the feat of Stalingrad during the Great Patriotic War. It is not necessary to rename - it is necessary to remember and carry out relevant events, said Vladislav Grib.
He also pointed to practical costs. Full renaming will require large-scale costs for replacing signs, address signs and re-registration of documents.
“I am against the renaming of cities,” said the Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of Russia. This entails considerable costs for changing plates and papers.
Earlier, the Deputy of the state Duma from the Communist party Angelika Glazkova introduced in the chamber a bill to return Volgograd the name of Stalingrad.
In her opinion, this will restore historical justice, given the worldwide fame of the heroism of the defenders and residents of the city.
The parliamentarian also proposed to legally prohibit any change in the names of hero cities that they wore during the Great Patriotic War.
