ICG immunofluorescence imaging technology in infrared light has not yet been used in our country. It helps to more accurately see the boundaries of the affected tissues and the location of neighboring organs. This is especially important in complex cases where the disease affects the intestines.

A unique high-tech operation (a complex form of deep infiltrative endometriosis complicated by damage to the large intestine) was performed by a Russian surgeon - head of the Department of Operational Gynecology with Oncogynecology of the Moscow Regional Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology named after Academician Krasnopolsky (MONIIAG), Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Popov. He was assisted by Belarusian colleagues.

The operation is part of the program of an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the treatment of deep infiltrative endometriosis using advanced ICG technology. The forum brought together leading experts from Belarus, China, Russia and Azerbaijan. Irina Ikonostasova, Chief Specialist of the Department of Medical Assistance to Mothers and Children of the Minsk City Executive Committee, stressed that holding events of this scale is of strategic importance for the national healthcare, since the international exchange of experience and the introduction of innovative technologies allow to continuously improve the quality of medical care for women and preserve their reproductive health. Alexander Beach, Chief Physician of the Minsk City Clinical Gynecology Center, noted that it is a great honor for the center to host a world-class event and demonstrate to colleagues the high standards of the Belarusian surgical school, which today keeps pace with global medical progress.

The main feature of the program was the format of practical exchange of experience. Belarusian doctors, together with colleagues from Azerbaijan, observed live surgery, a live broadcast from the operating room of Peking University’s People’s Clinic. Then the scientific and practical program continued broadcasting from the operating Minsk City Clinical Gynecology Center, where the capital’s specialists demonstrated their own high level of skill.

About the essence of the innovative technology ICG in gynecology told the Deputy chief doctor for the medical part of the Minsk center Larisa Mavricheva. According to her, the ICG technology involves the introduction of a special dye preparation into the body, which under the influence of infrared radiation stains various organs and tissues in green. Initially, this method successfully proved itself in oncology for the accurate detection of metastases in the lymph nodes, which allowed to increase the radicality of interventions and significantly increase the chances of patients to recover. Now this modern technology is coming into general gynecology, opening up new possibilities for accurate imaging.

During the Minsk broadcast, doctors in practice demonstrated the treatment of deep infiltrative endometriosis. Although this process is benign in itself, in this case he behaved extremely aggressively and sprouted from the small pelvis to neighboring organs. The young patient formed a stenosing infiltrate, which narrowed the lumen of the intestine with a tumor. High-tech laparoscopic intervention through small punctures lasted more than two hours. Doctors successfully removed about 7-8 centimeters of the intestine and completely restored its integrity. If the specialists did not carry out this operation on time, then in the near future the girl would have been on the operating table for emergency indications with acute intestinal obstruction.

Belarusian gynecologists themselves have vast experience in the treatment of such pathologies. Since 2018, 38 patients with similar severe lesions of the colon have been successfully operated on at the Minsk Center. Nevertheless, doctors emphasize that there is no limit to perfection, and they are happy to introduce new advanced methods together with world leaders in medicine, the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee noted.
