The Murmansk Commercial Sea Port has started working with pig iron for the first time since 1996. This was reported by the press service of the port.

At the berths began unloading wagons with cast iron in pigeons. The port has not handled this cargo for 30 years. The products of Ural metallurgical plants were redirected to Murmansk due to restrictions on the usual routes. Since September, the port has been accepting additional cargo volumes so that exporters have an alternative outlet to sea.

187 wagons have already been unloaded, and some are on their way. A shipload weighing 65,000 tons is being formed to be shipped to the Mediterranean at the end of October. Test transshipment. The pilot will consider the possibility of regular deliveries.

Earlier, “MK in Murmansk” said that the Murmansk seaport will start shipping metals and grain after reducing the volume of coal.
