St. Petersburg wants to be renamed Leningrad for the sake of memory of the feat of the blockade

MP from the CPRF faction Angelika Glazkova has already submitted the relevant bill to the parliament. She believes the old name will bring back historical justice and respect for the city.

In addition to St. Petersburg, Volgograd fell under the renaming, to which they want to return the name Stalingrad. Glazkova linked this initiative with the Battle of Stalingrad, which marked a radical change during the Second World War.

According to the author of the document, the heroism and courage of the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad are known all over the world, so the historical names of the hero cities should be officially restored.
