St. Petersburg began to save on repairs and more often buy doors

In St. Petersburg, the losses were more noticeable: the turnover of three large networks selling goods for repairs fell by an average of 3-24%. RBC reports.

The decline continues not the first year: for example, the segment including household and garden products is shrinking by 1.3% year-on-year. The reasons are called expensive loans, reduction of complex repairs and consumer savings. Buyers are increasingly limited to spot renovation of the interior and carefully compare prices. The demand, according to experts, is also affected by the decrease in the availability of mortgages.
At the same time, certain categories are growing: for example, sales of interior doors increased by 15%. Since spring, demand has been supported by seasonal goods, but for the week from October 12 to 18, spending on building materials decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous week and by 6.2% compared to the average level of September.
