Why God Takes Children and Young People: Archpriest explained the meaning hidden from people
The question of death is one of the most difficult for any believer

The question of death is one of the most difficult for any believer. The famous clergyman Archpriest Dimitry Smirnov repeatedly touched on this topic and explained how the Orthodox Church views the departure of people, including very young and even infants.
The priest proceeded from a simple thought: the time of our life does not belong to us, but to the Creator. Man comes into the world and leaves it when it is determined from above. Therefore, Dmitry Smirnov stressed, even in the most difficult circumstances, what is happening is not meaningless - behind it is a plan that is not always open to people. To understand it to the end of the human mind is simply not given.
He was often asked why so many young people are dying early these days. The archpriest answered this question through the prism of the state of society. When faith is pushed into the background, man gradually moves away from God. The Lord, as the priest believed, sees what is hidden from us: what trials await a person in the future and whether he will eventually come to repentance. This, according to Dimitri Smirnov, may be the meaning of early departure – although from the outside it looks only a tragedy.
The death of infants has always been particularly painful. Archpriest did not hide: it is really very difficult to survive such a loss and find an explanation for it for people. But here, he said, the same rule applies: not everything that happens lends itself to human logic. God’s providence remains a mystery, and attempts to solve it completely are meaningless.
Dimitri Smirnov advised to treat such questions with humility: even if the answers to them are not available, faith helps to survive the most difficult. This view of life and death reflects the traditional Orthodox understanding of the fate of a person – this position of the priest is recounted by the Zen channel “Look in yourself”.
