Surgeons near Moscow “assembled” the pelvis of a motorcyclist after a serious accident

Doctors of the trauma department of one of the medical centers of the Moscow region successfully operated on a patient with critical injuries to the pelvic bones received as a result of a traffic accident. A man driving a motorcycle was hospitalized with multiple fractures that posed a serious threat to life.

According to the medical institution, due to the complex nature of the injuries, the primary task of specialists was to stabilize the victim’s condition. To do this, the pelvis had to be urgently fixed using a special external design (external fixation apparatus). Only after the man's condition stabilized, after two days, the surgeons began the main stage of treatment.

During an hour and a half operation, doctors managed to restore the anatomically correct position of the damaged bones and securely fix them with a screw and plate. Due to the high qualification of traumatologists, the intervention was successful.

According to the doctors themselves, the patient felt relief almost immediately after the operation. The pain syndrome is completely gone, the pathological mobility of the pelvis has disappeared, and the normal function of urination has been restored, which is an important indicator of the successful restoration of the pelvic ring.

The man is currently preparing for discharge. He has a recovery period ahead: two to three weeks of strict bed rest and subsequent rehabilitation. Despite the severity of the injuries, the forecasts of specialists are optimistic - after a course of rehabilitation therapy, the patient will be able to walk independently again.
