Within the framework of the All-Russian Financial Literacy Week, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kostroma region together with experts of the Central Bank conducted a preventive quiz for students. The event aims to protect children from cybercriminals.
During the game, law enforcement officers explained to schoolchildren how not to become accomplices in fraudulent schemes. Special attention was paid to the so-called “drops” – teenagers who, for a fee, provide their bank cards to criminals to withdraw stolen funds.
The police explained the severity of the punishment under article 187 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation (illegal circulation of means of payment). Since the beginning of the year, 19 criminal cases have been initiated in the region under this article, 8 accused have already received real terms - up to 6 years of imprisonment.
A separate lecture was held for parents and teachers. Representatives of the bank reminded the basic rules of cyber hygiene: never report codes from SMS, CVV-codes and do not install applications from unverified sources.
