Half of water tragedies in Crimea linked to alcohol
About half of all accidents and deaths on water bodies of the Crimea are associated with the use of alcohol

About half of all accidents and deaths on water bodies of the Crimea are associated with the use of alcohol. This was reported on the air of the TV channel “Crimea 24” by the chief state inspector for small vessels of the Republic of Crimea GU EMERCOM of Russia in the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexander Zraenko.
“We record about 50% of all deaths and accidents every year – this is a state of intoxication,” he said.
Popularizer of sea fishing and author of the channel “Ruslan and his plan” Ruslan Fatkullin noted that alcohol often causes tragic outcomes on the water.
Of particular concern to him are tourists who, after resting on the beach, go diving or fishing under the influence of alcohol.
Fatkullin added that brief instruction before diving or going to sea could not compensate for delayed reactions and distorted perceptions of danger caused by alcohol.
Recall that in September 2026 in Sevastopol ended the swimming season, during which five people died on the water. The Ministry called the main causes of accidents: swimming in unspecified places, alcohol intoxication and violation of other safety rules. In total, nine incidents were recorded during the season, nine people, including three children, were rescued.
In September 2026, in the Sea of Azov near the village of Mayak, four vacationers were carried away into the open sea. Two men, 71 and 59, were killed and a third was hospitalized.
At the same time, in September 2026, Zraenko reported that since the beginning of the year, 15 people have died at water bodies, 23 accidents were recorded - 23% less than a year earlier.
