This weekend, October 24-25, is the penultimate time to visit regional agricultural fairs. That is why there was excitement at the sites in Uzd and other cities of the Minsk region: people rushed to stock up on vegetables, fruits and seedlings for the winter. At such moments, the help of BRSM volunteers was especially in demand - they helped the elderly and people with disabilities carry heavy bags to the car or home. sb.by correspondents looked at their work.

What was offered and how much In Uzd, the fair unfolded on the central square. Since the morning it was crowded here, although the cloudy weather did not promise such revival. Potatoes were offered for sixty cents per kilogram, cabbage could be bought at a price of about a ruble, carrots and beets - one and a half. Onions - from one and a half to the ruble of eighty. Nearby they traded seedlings: ten rubles for seedlings of cranberries, raspberries, blackberries, currants, apple trees. They also sold chickens - breeds "Brown Nick" and "Dominant" of Czech breeding. There were many people where they sold honey, mushrooms, lard and pumpkin seeds. Surprisingly, it was pumpkin seeds that flew among buyers with a hurrah: in just half an hour a huge container was empty, and those who did not have time waited for the second batch.

Among the sellers, we noticed the most smiling and asked how he was doing this season. Farmer Andrei Mikulich brought cabbage, carrots, onions and beets from his plot. Only cabbage this season, he grew about 300 nets of 20-30 kilograms.
- Today it rains, so there are fewer buyers, Andrei said. At the beginning of the season there was a real peak. Hard work, but there's demand.

While some counted nets with cabbage, others already pretended that they would take home. The buyer Anna Guseva came from a neighboring village - took lard for her mother at a pleasant price: 23 rubles per kilogram.
- Prices here are lower than on Komarovka, shares Anna. I take what is missing in my area. Good quality. In addition to lard took vegetables, raspberry seedlings and seedlings. If farmers were responsible for the assortment at the fair today, then BRSM volunteers were responsible for the delivery of purchases to home. Chief accountant of the Uzden RK NGO BRSM Daria Shvydchenko said that the guys go to the fairs for 5-6 people. These are mostly 9th grade students.
- The elderly are especially in need of help, says Daria. Today, the guys brought the purchases mainly to the car, although sometimes there is a need to bring them directly home. And next week, we're going to a lonely pensioner's house to help clean up.

Nine-grader Vlad Bystrimovich in BRSM for the first year, at the fair works for the first time.
- Helping people is great. Especially grandparents. I think of my own people who find it hard to carry bags, and immediately there is motivation. It is good that I can be useful not only to them, Vlad admits.

His classmate Nikita Sergeev at such a rally is also for the first time.
- I like to feel needed. People smile, thank you. This is the best reward, says Nikita.
During the day, the guys managed to help more than a dozen pensioners. But, as the volunteers themselves admit, not everyone immediately makes contact: someone is shy, someone is used to coping himself and does not want to burden. We managed to persuade 84-year-old Valentina Andreevna Mushakov – she came to the fair for vegetables and at first refused help. Volunteers still insisted and brought her shopping home.
- Thank you guys, I couldn't have done it without them. I wouldn't say that much myself. “God bless them,” the pensioner said. My grandson is also a volunteer, only at the local college. So I know what kind of work it is. And you know, I'm proud of the youth today - these guys are good growers, responsive.
